The Fountain of the Three Spouts

The Fountain of the Three Spouts

The fountain under the arcade of the Casino Antonini, in piazza di Corte, called delle donne (of the women) then delle tre cannelle (of the three spouts), was commissioned in 1614 by the Savelli family to provide the town with water, but was completely renovated by Bernini in 1666. It consists of a tripartite structure, with a basalt basin on corbels. On the central framed section, where the three spouts that give the fountain its name emerge, the Chigi crest can be found.

Above the fountain one can see the tombstone of the heretic Simon Mago, who, according to tradition, died in Ariccia after a fatal fall from a tower that faced the basilica of San Pietro in Rome.
