Galloro (Località)

Galloro (Località)

The urbanisation of Galloro began in the 1920s by the Ariccia Nuova cooperative that built the small town, with Piazza Dante Alighieri and the houses of Via del Sacro Cuore. Around the same time architect Luigi Moretti started building houses in a rationalist style in the Monte Cucco area. Galloro is appreciated for the urban and architectural quality of the buildings, which turned Ariccia into a reference point for the holidays of the Roman bourgeoisie while satisfying the housing needs of the inhabitants.

Going out towards the Sanctuary of Galloro you encounter the so-called "Bernini stairway", built in 1925 with a wall with niches, inspired by the famous water theatres (Teatri delle Acque) of the Tuscan villas.
