Substructions of the Temple of Aesculapius

Substructions of the Temple of Aesculapius

Inside the Hotel Villa Aricia, on via Appia Antica, it is possible to see still preserved substructures in opus caementicium leaning against the wall, with coverings in opus reticulatum, quadratum and latericium. They are thought to be the remains of the Temple of Aesculapius or of a villa of the Atii family, who owned the land in Roman times. (E. Lucidi).
